Fox Cubs

Early years group for children aged 5–7

Small Steps. Big Adventures. Bright Futures.

Fox Cubs is Havenswood's early years group for children aged 4–7 where developmental, sensory, social or emotional differences have already been noticed, whether or not a child has received a formal diagnosis. We recognise that many families begin to see signs that their child may be experiencing challenges long before support becomes available, and we believe that children deserve understanding, encouragement and practical help as early as possible.

Through play, creativity, exploration and positive social experiences, Fox Cubs helps children build the foundations they need to thrive both in school and beyond. Our sessions are carefully designed to support confidence, communication, emotional regulation, independence and a strong sense of belonging. Delivered in a calm, nurturing and neurodivergent-affirming environment, children are encouraged to learn, explore and develop at their own pace in ways that feel safe, enjoyable and meaningful.

As part of our wider Early Days support programme, families can also access guidance from experienced neurodevelopmental professionals who can help identify areas of need, provide informal assessments, practical recommendations and personalised strategies while families are waiting for formal NHS or Local Authority assessments. Although we cannot provide an official diagnoses, our aim is to use the expertise of skilled professionals to help families gain a clearer understanding of their child's strengths and challenges, access appropriate support sooner, and feel less alone during what can often be a lengthy and stressful waiting period.

We believe that early intervention can make a lifelong difference. By helping children understand their emotions, develop friendships, manage transitions and build confidence in themselves, we aim to prevent small challenges from becoming bigger barriers later on. Alongside supporting children, we work closely with families, sharing practical strategies, guidance and reassurance to help them navigate the early years with confidence. Our goal is simple: to help every child develop the skills, resilience and self-belief they need to participate successfully in school, enjoy learning and flourish within their community.
