About Us

About Havenswood Trust

Our journey began with a group of parents and carers, supporting one another through the highs and lows of raising neurodivergent children. As we shared stories, challenges, and strategies, one thing became clear: families like ours are too often left to piece things together on their own, in a world that isn’t built for us – with little access to the right education, therapies, and spaces to help us thrive. What we needed was a welcoming community - somewhere school, family support and wellbeing existed together under one roof - and so, Havenswood Trust was born…

…because together, we can build the kind of community we’ve all been searching for.

Join us and show your support as we apply for a new Special School for neurodivergent children for Scarborough, Whitby and the coastal regions!

By weaving together educational, emotional, and community support on one accessible site, we’ll ensure every member of the family feels seen, valued and equipped to thrive together.

The Facts

Today in the UK, around 15–20% of children and young people are neurodivergent, meaning they interpret information and engage with their environment differently from their peers. This sizeable group highlights an ongoing societal challenge - not only for education and integration but also for ensuring fairness and equality for everyone.

The need for neurodivergent-affirming spaces is both critical and growing.

Uniting to lighten the load for families

We understand that a child’s success depends on the strength of their entire family - and so our approach will combine top‐quality education with truly holistic care.

Alongside tailored, academic programmes, we’ll offer on‐site wellbeing services - counselling, therapy sessions, and family workshops in our wellbeing centre, ‘The Haven.’

Parents and carers will be able to access peer support groups, expert coaching, teaching and practical advice on managing daily challenges, while their children benefit from social activities and safe spaces to learn and connect.

By weaving together educational, emotional, and community support under one roof, we’ll ensure every member of the family feels seen, valued and equipped to thrive together.
