Our Vision

Havenswood Trust is driven by a compassionate vision to build an inclusive school, Early Days Unit and a family support centre where neurodivergent children, young people, and their families are seen, supported, and empowered.

Through Havenswood Academy, The Bridge, Havenswood and The Haven – we’re building a place where education, care, and community come together in one place… a lifeline for families in Scarborough and beyond.

Our Model of Care

Our centre will provide a strong support structure not only for the students in our school, but also for neurodivergent children in mainstream schools across Scarborough and the coastal regions who need additional help. We’ll offer short term placements with a focus on re-integration for those who are struggling and through our Bridging Team, we’ll offer outreach, therapies, and shared expertise - extending care beyond our own walls. We want to ensure every child has the support they need to thrive wherever they are.

LEARNING PARTNERSHIPS

Through research and life experience, we’ve developed a pioneering model in education and family support – one we believe will be a game-changer, because it addresses the whole person; not just the classroom or the clinic, but the family and social environment too.

By bringing a School, an Early Days Unit, and a Family Wellness Centre together on one site, we can ensure educators, healthcare professionals and experts work seamlessly to support each child’s academic, emotional and physical wellbeing from the very start of their journey.

This integrated approach means that for students who attend the Academy, whether on permanent or short-term placement, academic progress will go hand-in-hand with emotional wellbeing and social confidence; everything taken care of on one site – setting us apart as an organisation that puts neurodivergent needs at its heart.

By weaving a tailored teaching strategy with professional therapeutic support and a vibrant peer and social network, we’ll create an environment where everyone feels understood, included, valued, and empowered to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.

Step by Step - our Timeline

We’re taking a phased approach to our project, but hope to have our facilities up and running within the next two to three years, starting with the school - so hopefully sometime in 2028/29. However, with the right funding and support from our Local Authority and Department for Education we’ll be able to move more quickly.

As a charity, we’ll rely on the generosity of donors, volunteers and partners to help us raise money to develop the wellbeing centre and related facilities, employ the right people and maintain our services.

Whether you’re a parent, educator, healthcare professional or friend of the community, there’s a way to help support us at Havenswood.

Join us in building a vibrant, compassionate community where every child is empowered, every family is supported and every life is valued.

Looking to the Future

We see Havenswood, Scarborough as the first step in a much bigger journey.

Our ambition is to grow beyond North Yorkshire, creating a network of centres where neurodivergent children and their families can find the support they need and deserve. The demand is urgent and nationwide, and we are actively seeking major funders and partners who share our vision and are ready to help us build lasting change for generations to come.
