Our Vision

Our vision and primary goal is to transform the life chances of children who are struggling with or not attending mainstream education by offering support and opportunity, recognising their own unique gifts and abilities. It is also designed to support families as they move through the everyday realities of neurodivergent life, offering help, understanding, guidance and reassurance along the way.

“It takes a Village to Raise a Child”

Our commitment to the village model reflects an understanding of the holistic nature of the human experience and therefore of the integrated needs of the 'whole child'. These are always greater than the segregated, isolated responses (education, physical health, relationships, self-image, nutrition, pastimes and hobbies, mental health, housing etc,) that today’s culture tends to focus on.

The Model of Care

The village will provide a strong educational support structure for academically able neurodivergent children attending mainstream schools in Scarborough and the coastal regions who need additional help using a thoughtfully designed, three-tier approach. Support will be offered through our Learning Community Hub. This will include additional learning support within a nurturing environment, access to alternative spaces where children can regulate and reset on a longer term basis when needed, and a dedicated provision for those who, despite best efforts, are unable to tolerate mainstream settings.

EDUCATION PARTNERSHIPS

The Village model has been developed to offer children, young people and their families easily accessible support, opportunity, and the skills they need for lifelong success, by bringing together the skills of local people, charities, volunteers, businesses, and health and public services - all working together to serve and support local schools, and to deliver better outcomes for local communities.

We want to include education support and specialist placements, enrichment and life-skills activities, and a comprehensive network of mental health and wellbeing support. The Village will also offer calm social spaces alongside dedicated therapy and counselling facilities, creating an environment where individuals and families can feel safe, supported and able to thrive over the long term.

A Village is more than co-location or even partnership. It is the complete coming together and integration of our energy and resources – a new civil society covenant to create the opportunity for children and young people to raise their aspirations, set ambitious goals, and unlock their potential. It’s time to think like a forest rather than a group of individual trees. That is the only way we will get the job done!”
