UPDATE ON HAVENSWOOD
We’re delighted to share some very exciting news.
Havenswood is now officially working with OASIS Trust to explore the creation of a SEND Village in Scarborough, subject to final discussions. This marks a significant and hopeful step forward in our vision to build a truly inclusive, nurturing community where neurodivergent children and young people can thrive.
Oasis Villages are part of Oasis Trust’s ongoing vision for community support and integrated help. The model is already being developed and tested, with two villages currently operating - one in London and a new village beginning in the Wirral. Oasis Villages are a community-focused initiative, providing a blueprint for holistic, place-based support, currently being discussed at government level and a topic of conversation at the recent Labour Party conference.
We are therefore proud to be part of an exciting, pioneering movement focused on joined-up, whole-family support and care.
Our SEND Village is being designed as a connected environment supporting children and families from early years, through education, and into a welcoming and empowering youth hub. Rather than isolated services, we are working towards a village model where education, wellbeing, family support and community life grow together.
The charities already involved in this work have been unanimous in their view that working collaboratively towards a shared vision is far more effective and beneficial for children and families than organisations trying to operate in isolation. By pooling expertise, resources and experience, we believe we can create stronger, more sustainable support that truly meets the needs of the SEND community.
As we move into this next phase, we will be seeking to work alongside additional like-minded charities and organisations who share our values. We are keen to collaborate with partners who can offer specialist support, therapies, enrichment, family services and youth provision that respond to the real needs of our children and young people.
This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Havenswood, OASIS and for Scarborough. We believe this approach has the potential to benefit the whole SEND community in our area and beyond, creating meaningful and lasting change through compassion, collaboration and care.
