Creating a Sensory Space

We want to create something special - a comprehensive, fully equipped sensory room designed to support neurodivergent children, adults, and families across our community based in The Street Community Centre in Scarborough.

We will offer a calm, safe space for relaxation, regulation, and therapeutic play. The room will feature a range of sensory experiences - with soft walls and floors, and gentle lighting, sounds and textures,  movement, interactive screens, illuminated ball pool, and projection equipment - all designed to reduce anxiety, stimulate curiosity, and promote emotional wellbeing.

The room will be available for community use and private hire, including:

• Families who need a quiet, supportive space for their children.
• Local schools and nurseries looking to offer sensory sessions.
• Therapists, support workers and small groups who want to incorporate sensory regulation into their work.

Our aim is to make the room as affordable and accessible as possible, ensuring that every family who needs it can benefit. It will be adapted to suite a range of ages including young children, teens and adults.

By developing this community resource, Havenswood is helping fill a vital gap in local provision, giving neurodivergent people and their families a place to rest, play, and reset.

HOWEVER, WITHOUT YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT - THERE WILL BE NO SENSORY ROOM. Please support our charity by donating using the donate buttons on our website. Every penny counts and we need your help to make it happen. We rely upon donations, grants and community fundraising to bring projects like this to life. Whether you can make a one-off donation, host a small fundraising event, or sponsor a piece of equipment, every contribution helps us take another step toward opening the Havenswood Sensory Room.

If you can help in any way or want to arrange a fundraising event, please email us at: info@havenswoodtrust.org or use the contact us button below.

Thank you for your support.
