The Haven
At the heart of our vision is ‘The Haven’ - a welcoming family Community Hub designed especially for neurodiverse families from all walks of life.
We know that the challenges of dealing with children with SEND can be exhausting! Juggling work, childcare and appointments, and dealing with meltdowns and daily challenges can leave parents and carers stretched to the limit – battling loneliness, guilt and depression - or just simply needing some time away from it all! That’s why our Centre will be a safe haven where you can find the support and care that you need.
Located on the same site as our school, the Haven Wellbeing Centre and Family Support Unit will operate as a separate provision funded by our charity, Havenswood Trust - there to support both school families and the wider community! Alongside the community café, drop-off facility and Early Days Unit, we’ll provide flexible, multi-purpose spaces designed to promote gentle socialisation and inclusivity, that will help build community and provide spaces where everyone feels at home.
No school enrolment is needed to use our facilities!
Facilities envisioned include:
Outdoor play areas
Soft play zone

Our facilities will be designed to bring people together – building friendships, reducing isolation, and promoting positive inclusion. They will help children and young people grow in confidence, develop life skills, and prepare for adult life. We want ‘The Haven’ to be a place of real community and growth where we work together and support each other in life’s challenges. At Havenswood, we believe collaboration is key. We are committed to working alongside other SEND providers so that together we can meet the diverse needs of our community.
For kids and teens: from art and music workshops to animal therapy, sports and youth hub, plus weekend events - everything tailored to neurodivergent needs, giving children a chance to take part, make friends, socialise, have fun, and build confidence at all age levels.
For younger children: our Early Days Unit will offer support as soon as difficulties are identified, helping families access early intervention at the very start of their journey.
For parents and carers: drop into friendly peer groups, teaching sessions, or one-to-one sessions with one of our family support team or a professional advisor. Unwind in a calm space: read a book, or check yourself into a mindfulness workshop, while your child enjoys expert-led care in our drop-off facility.
Grab a coffee and a slice of cake, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy a few quiet moments for yourself.
Drop-off Day-Care Facility
Our plans include the provision of a drop -off facility that offers a safe environment for children from a few hours, up to a full day, providing families with much-needed emergency and short -term care and support.
Trained staff will run tailored activities that cater to neurodivergent needs, ensuring a calm, structured, engaging experience, whilst you take some time to do some shopping, attend an appointment, enjoy afternoon tea with a friend or just have some ‘me-time!’
As the only facility of its kind in the area, we’ll be proud to serve local neurodivergent families who have previously struggled to find comparable care for their children.
Havenswood - bringing together a community to serve young people and their families.
Whether you’re looking for practical advice, a shoulder to lean on, or simply some well-earned downtime, our Family Support Centre will be a haven for the whole family. Come as you are, and leave feeling stronger, supported and more connected.
With your support and help we can make the dream a reality
