The Bridge, Havenswood

Welcome to the future – and to our vision for a post-16 facility where ambition meets personalised support, in an inspiring learning environment.

We know these two years are pivotal, not only for academic growth and independent thinking, but also for developing essential life skills and preparing young people for adulthood beyond school.

Our post-16 Hub will act as a bridge between school and adulthood – nurturing confidence, resilience, and creativity while offering tailored pathways into higher education, training, employment, and independent living.

 “Your Future.

Your Journey.

Our Support.”

Preparation for Adulthood: At Havenswood, we believe preparing neurodivergent teenagers for adulthood means more than academic study. Our post-16 provision will nurture independence, confidence, and practical life skills alongside qualifications. With tailored pathways into further education, training, and employment, we aim to equip every young person with the tools, experiences, and resilience they need to step into adulthood with purpose and pride.

College Level Study: Neurodivergent teens often grapple with sensory overload in busy college environments, struggle with demands (timelines, complex coursework, independent study), face social and communication hurdles in new peer groups, and can feel let down by generic teaching methods.

Recognising these challenges is the first step; proactive support – clear structures, accessible, quiet spaces, supported deadlines and rapid access to reasonable adjustments, will all help ensure that neurodivergent students thrive instead of struggle.

Preparing for the Next Steps

Preparation for University & Careers Guidance

We’ll employ a dedicated Careers Advisor to provide UCAS support, set up mock interviews, co-ordinate work placement and provide apprenticeship guidance. Regular workshops will cover personal statements, student finance and vocational routes.

Exam & Revision Support

In the weeks leading up to external exams, we’ll run targeted revision sessions, bespoke study plans, and “exam boot camps” to help prepare our students to give their very best.

Pathway to Employment

Neurodivergent teens benefit enormously from targeted transition support because it smooths the shift from an environment built around their needs, to one where they must largely self-advocate.

By equipping them with concrete life-skills training, social communication strategies, mental-health support, and vocational planning well before they leave school, we’ll maximize their chances of independence, confidence, and long-term success.

We’ll offer: in‐college workshops, practical ‘real’ work experience and ongoing mentorship to enable neurodivergent students to develop confidence, self‐advocacy, and the practical skills needed for a smooth transition into sustainable employment.
