JULIE ARCHER

CHAIR OF TRUSTEES AND PROJECT LEADER

Julie brings a determined focus and unwavering dedication to her role as project manager and Chair of Trustees.

Julie began her career as a nurse and midwife before moving into education after completing a BA (Hons) degree and teacher training. She worked as an Art and Design teacher at McMillan Academy in Teesside and later became a university lecturer. More recently, she worked for a charity teaching and supporting teens and adults with special educational needs, including ADHD and autism, where she gained valuable insight into the strengths and challenges of neurodivergent learners. This experience deepened her understanding and strengthened her commitment to creating inclusive environments where every learner can thrive. Julie is also a hands-on grandma to an nine-year-old grandson with autism and ADHD, giving her personal insight into the needs and experiences of neurodivergent children at different stages of development.

Throughout her diverse working career, Julie also spent a number of years working as an Operations/Project Manager, overseeing a number of building expansion and community projects, combining a keen eye for design with strong operational and people management skills.

A former British international swimmer, Julie understands the depth of dedication, drive and effort it takes to pursue and achieve excellence and to never give up. Undaunted by complex challenges, she now brings her vision and leadership to Havenswood Trust, where her skills and experience will help establish a vibrant and inclusive family community and SEND support Village in Scarborough.

Julie originates from Teesside, but now lives in Scarborough with her husband, John. They have three, grown up children and five grandchildren.
