EMMA LUKE

FAMILY SUPPORT LEAD

Emma brings a wealth of real-life experience to Havenswood Trust, shaped by a deep personal connection to the neurodivergent community. She grew up alongside an autistic brother and is now, (along with her husband, Iain) raising one neurotypical and two neurodivergent children - one of whom has complex care needs. Her journey as both sibling and parent has given her rare insight into the day-to-day realities, challenges, and joys faced by families like hers.

Since the age of 17, Emma has dedicated herself to supporting children and families affected by disability. Over the years, she has developed a deep passion for advocating for neurodivergent children and their families, offering not only empathy but practical knowledge, advice, and signposting to help them navigate complex systems and find the support they need.

Emma has previously served as a governor at a special school and is currently working closely with families who are navigating the neurodiversity journey. She also serves as the Disability and Inclusion Champion at her church in Scarborough, where she advocates for accessibility and understanding within the church and the wider community. In addition, she has held the role of trustee for a respite care centre, further enriching her knowledge of the support systems that families rely on. She knows first-hand the resilience, and courage that parents and carers must draw on daily.

Emma is a compassionate and insightful voice within our team. Her presence is already proving invaluable, and we are deeply grateful for the knowledge, warmth, and guidance she brings to Havenswood.
